University of Puget Sound's Iliana Barnes Diaz '25 Honored with Governor's Civic Leadership Award

University of Puget Sound's Iliana Barnes Diaz '25 has been awarded the Governor's Student Civic Leadership Award from the Washington Campus Coalition for the Public Good for her work with voter registration. Originally from Eugene, Oregon, she will be formally recognized at an awards ceremony on March 28, 2025, at Seattle University, where she will receive a $1,000 stipend.

University of Puget Sound Student Lands Prestigious NIH Internship

Ishaan Gollamudi, a rising junior Molecular and Cellular Biology major at the University of Puget Sound, spent his summer at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The internship allowed him to apply his research skills, honed in the Thines Lab, to cutting-edge cancer research. Gollamudi worked on developing a novel CRISPR-based tool, CHyMErA, with the potential to revolutionize cancer therapy. This experience has solidified his passion for medical research and inspired him to pursue a career in the field.

Alex Rhodes places third at the USA Track & Field Under-20 Championships

University of Puget Sound freshman Alex Rhodes placed third in the 400m dash in the USA Track & Field Under-20 Championships the past two days at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. In only his second track season, Rhodes represented Team USA at the U20 Championships on the 4x4.

We're thrilled to announce our Dean's List for fall 2023. This recognition honors outstanding undergraduate students committed to academic excellence. To achieve Dean's List distinction, students must have earned a semester GPA of 3.70 or higher, completed all enrolled courses without withdrawals, and have no incomplete grades.

Jack Leal '26, a University of Puget Sound undergraduate, published his ethnographic research on the rural town of St. John in the Journal of Northwest Anthropology.
